The Model 68 is a sealed enclosure designed specifically for the included 6"x8" long-throw, shallow-mount subwoofer. The oval shaped frame of the the subwoofer gives you the surface area of a typical 8" driver. With a large voice coil and powerful neodymium motor, this is a unique, high quality subwoofer. The Model 68 fits entirely within the space occupied by the factory subwoofer (or storage compartment) and completely maintains the stock look of the vehicle.
Will it Fit?
The Model 68S will fit any Z3 EXCEPT those that came with BOTH factory roll hoops and the factory storage compartment (the Model 80S will fit those Z3's).

What's the difference between the Model 68S and the Model 80S?
The Model 68S holds a 6"x8" subwoofer and is a sealed enclosure that fits entirely within the factory subwoofer compartment (or storage unit area) of the Z3. The Model 80S holds an 8" subwoofer and is a sealed enclosure that rests within the factory storage compartment and replaces the storage compartments factory lid. The Model 80S offers improved performance but is not a completely stealth installation.
I've seen references to a Model 65? Is this different from the Model 68S?
The Model 68S is an improved replacement for the Model 65. Both intall in the factory subwoofer compartment, so pictures and examples of the Model 65 are relevant for the Model 68. The Model 68 is more efficient than the Model 65 and has smoother frequency response, and improved mounting hardware and fitment.

the installation of the Model 68S took place yesterday, and after setting the amplifier to the right level the effect was stunning. The sound has become very good, even with my standard BMW radio/cassette - the installer used a 500W amplifier (there were no smaller ones).

I just install the subwoofer and let me tell you the sound is unbeliveable,full rich bass,no crackling,no vibration, this is what BMW should have thought what a sound should sound like not that crappy box they design.I am very pleased with the sound, now when im cruising with the top down i can fell the bass.Thanks again for a well design subwoofer.

This box doesn't give you that low, powerful bass you get with a real 10" or 12" sub (wishful thinking I guess). It is a tremendous improvement over stock though. On a scale of 1-10, the stock sub would be a 2 and the this would be a 7. There are detailed instructions, and the install was very easy. (Posted on 12/16/07)
